Description
This product was designed, 3D printed, soldered and assembled by hand in my basement while the kids were asleep. I’ve made quite a few revisions and tests to ensure that both Tentacle Sync E mk1 and mk2 fit without trouble. There’s room to leave timecode cables plugged in while charging if you’re lazy efficient like me.
Weight: 78 grams
Dimensions: 110 x 47 x 33 mm.
FAQ:
Is this compatible with both mk1 and mk2 ?
Yes, it’s compatible with all Sync E USB C versions, but not Track E (the pocket recorder) – there’s a separate product for that
Can you make one for (insert device)?
Yes, there’s one for Deity TC-1, Tentacle Track E and Ambient Nano lockit
Are there any battery protection circuits inside?
No, what’s inside is simply a parallel 4-way 5v splitter put on a pcb. The individual Tentacle units’ charging circuits take care of the actual charging/protection.
The charge indicator is at the bottom, how do I check the charge status?
I’ve built in an optical fiber light pipe that passes the charging indicator light to the top side of the unit. The light isn’t very bright, partially on purpose (I don’t like bright LEDs in my hotel room) and partially due to the fact that the light pipe position is a compromise to accommodate differences in LED placements on Tentacle Sync E mk1 and mk2.
Do I need a special wall charger?
Your regular 5v USB A wall charger is fine. Each Tentacle Sync E draws a maximum of 360 mah, 4 x 360 = 1440 mah. So a 1.5A will ensure full charging speed. Please note, the charging bay is not USB PD compatible. If you must use a PD source, a USB C male to USB A female adapter is needed.
I think this is expensive
This is a low volume niche product, hand made one at a time. The price reflects the time it takes to design, test, source materials, 3D print, solder, assemble and do all things needed in order to make the thing appear in a cardboard box on your doorstep.
What’s the delivery time?
If the stock status says: “Green smiley face: XX in stock – available on backorder”:
That means I have parts laying around to make and ship yours within a couple of days. I ship from Denmark
If the stock status just says: “Available on backorder”:
That means I am waiting on parts to arrive, and there will be a delay. I won’t promise anything, but usually parts arrive within 14 days. If I get overwhelmed with a bunch of orders at the same time, that delay might be longer. I will update this product page with status on batches.
