ID.F2 – Two channel USB volume fader extension for Sound Devices 8 series

Description

The unit has two smooth potentiometer knobs and weighs only 45 grams, measuring 0.98×1.77×1.45 inches. The current fader value is sent to the recorder upon boot up after a 14 second initialization time, and from there it just works like any other fader.

833 users might not need all 8 channels very often, but for those 8-channel days, ch 7-8 faders will be nice to have in the bag. Same goes for ch 9-10 for 888 users.

The enclosure is made from PLA. USB plugs in from the right side

Please bare in mind, this is a homemade product, made to order, hand-soldered and 3D printed in my basement while the kids were asleep. It is not going to have the look and feel of the very expensive sound equipment we all use and love, but I am sure you will find it useful it anyways. I have taken some high resolution photos, so what you see here is what you get.

Will this work on my 633/664/688?
No – these fader units are only compatible with Sound Devices 8 series.

Can I use multiple USB fader controllers at a time?
Yes – you can use a USB hub to plug in several controllers.

Can you make one that does trim?
Yes, available on the shop

Can I change the channel configuration myself?
No, the configuration is flashed onto a microprocessor. If you want to change the channel configuration after you’ve purchased a unit, email me simon@iddqd.dk

What’s the delivery time?
If the stock status says: “Green smiley face: XX in stock – available on backorder”:
That means I have parts laying around to make and ship yours within a week or so. I ship from Denmark

If the stock status just says: “Available on backorder”:
That means I am waiting on parts to arrive, and there will be a delay. I won’t promise anything, but usually parts arrive within 14 days. If I get overwhelmed with a bunch of orders at the same time, that delay might be longer. I will update this product page with status on batches.

Why is there no USB cable included?

Can I choose another color?
